There are hundreds of different brands of gaming headsets and accessories out there, and it can get really confusing when trying to buy one, especially if you’re on a budget. So, when EasySMX said they wanted me to review their SA-928 headset, I jumped at the opportunity.
So, now that I’ve been able to try it out, the question is, how well does it live up to expectations?
Ok, so installation when it comes to a headset is more about how easy it is to use, and well, the EasySMX SA-928 is a plug and play headset that you can easily connect to PC, PS4 or Xbox ONE, even though it says PS3 on the front of the box.
It can connect to the microphone socket on the PC or console, or it can even connect to and work through the mic jack in the PS4 and Xbox controllers. So, however you normally use a headset, this has got you covered!
When it comes to the usability of a headset, that really just means how comfortable it is to wear. The SA-928 hands out comfort like Oprah hands out gifts to her audience! The padding around the speakers is increadibly soft, and the size of them means that even my big ears sit perfectly within the target area.
The headstrap doesn’t need adjusting as it just stretches out to fit the size of your head, but doesn’t ever feel like it is pushing down on you or squeezing your head. Instead, it just sort of sits there, feeling the same as if you were wearing a loose fitting hoodie or something. It is definitely one of the more wearable headsets I’ve tried out, if that makes sense? Most actually end up hurting after a while, but so far, I’ve had no such experience with the EasySMX SA-928!
When it comes to sound quality through the headphones, I’ve tested it with some decent power metal in the shape of Dragonforce, and the epic power ballad that is Bat out of Hell, and both sounded absolutely epic! The noise cancelling worked so well that I couldn’t even hear my daughter screaming at me over them, so yeah, that’s a pretty damn good test for that…
The microphone’s sound quality is really high as well, as you can hear in the third part of that video above. Your voice comes out clear and easy to understand, meaning that from a streaming, recording or online gaming perspective, this is a treat! Especially when you consider the fact that it is a budget headset. On top of that, the really simple connectivity to consoles as well as PCs is brilliant, and it works really well with a phone too (again, as shown in the video).
So I’ve already mentioned that the headset is a budget one, but it’s worth saying that I have seen it go for as well as £15 on Amazon UK (when on sale). When you consider this, plus the quality of the product itself, you have a great deal!
Considering it is a budget headset, the build quality is of a really high standard, for what I can tell. The cables and wires were really strong, whilst also being interchangeable depending on what system you’re going to use them on that night.
And That’s All Folks
All in all, I’m really pleased with the headset, and thoroughly feel that it is a sound investment in the gaming. This is especially so for someone who iss on a budget and want something that is of a strong with great audio quality.
It is comfortable to wear for extended periods of time whilst also having great quality sound from both the speakers and the mic. Have you used this headset before? Would you consider it? Let me know in the comments below!
